Tax refunds are not issued automatically and if a client receives a letter or text message informing them that they are entitled to a tax refund, they will need to claim it. This can be done via the HMRC app.
Where a client is owed a PAYE refund, a green ‘Claim’ button in the PAYE section will show the amount due to the client. Tapping the ‘Claim’ button and following the instructions will trigger a refund which will be paid into their bank account.
